In conjunction with re-occupancy, CEM conducted a mold and moisture investigation of three large, unoccupied corporate buildings in Indianapolis that were owned by Conseco Insurance. The scope of work required CEM to identify and document all areas where there was suspect microbial contamination as well as areas where water and/or moisture problems that could lead to microbial contamination existed.
CEM first devised an investigation protocol that was submitted to the client for approval. Upon notice to proceed with the protocol, CEM conducted a thorough, but non-invasive, visual inspection of the three buildings. Temperature, relative humidity and moisture readings were collected throughout the investigation and documented. Photographic documentation was also done and incorporated into the final report.
The investigation uncovered several areas where suspect mold was present in the three buildings. Additionally, CEM was able to identify the likely source of moisture that caused the suspect mold growth. There were also numerous areas where water leaks and moisture issues were identified that could lead to a microbial problem. CEM was able to make specific recommendations to alleviate all problems identified.
As a result of the investigation, the building owner was able to proactively correct the problems identified by CEM prior to the buildings being reoccupied.
