Site Assessments - Confidential National Restaurant Chain

Site Assessments - Confidential National Restaurant Chain
12/24/2008

CEM performed a Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and a pre-construction geotechnical evaluation at this operating salvage yard.  A national restaurant chain was considering the site for a new restaurant.  Although surface soil contamination from petroleum hydrocarbons and metals was known to exist, CEM was charged with identifying the extent to which this contamination existed at depth.

A strategic soil-boring plan was developed by CEM based on surface soil sampling results and other factors, thus reducing the overall number of borings necessary to characterize the site.  Based on this effort, the quantity of contaminated surface and subsurface soils was identified as manageable.  Limited remediation ensued, and the site was subsequently purchased and developed as a restaurant.
